
Torremolinos is preparing for a dog-friendly weekend: on November 15th and 16th, the Conference Center will host the international dog show, more than 1.700 specimens of 153 breeds coming from different countries and thousands of visitors.
The event, organized by the Costa del Sol Canine Society and presented by councilors Ramón Alcaide and Francisco Cerdán along with Miriam Villalta, comes with a comprehensive program y free entrance for the general public.
Dates, venue and access
The event will take place on Saturday and Sunday, November 15th and 16th, at the Torremolinos Conference Centre, during the following hours: 9:00 - 18:30Attendance is free, with no entrance fee.
The previous edition exceeded 12.000 visitorsTherefore, it is recommended to arrive early to enjoy the activities and avoid waiting.
Organization and official presentation
The announcement was attended by the Councillor for Sports, Ramón Alcaide, the Environment Councillor, Francisco Cerdán, and the Vice President of the Costa del Sol Canine Society, Miriam Villalta.
'Sancho at home' was also present during the presentation, a Bloodhound or Saint Hubert's Dog, a symbol of the international character and diversity of races that will be seen at the venue.
Alcaide emphasized the importance of the meeting for fans and breeders, as well as its direct economic impact in accommodations and the expenses associated with the participants' stay.
Standards and animal welfare
The City Council emphasized its commitment to animal welfare and respect for civic norms. Cerdán reminded everyone that each participant must present passport, up-to-date vaccination record and microchip of the specimen.
Program and featured activities
Throughout the weekend, the following events will take place exhibitions, competitions and workshops for all audiences, in addition to the national test and international exhibition.
- Specialty show for the Labrador Retriever, qualifying for the Spanish Championship.
- Spanish Water Dog and Golden Retriever competitions.
- Obedience exercises and protección police type.
- Workshops agility, skills and tricks, and a parade of children's and youth presenters.
- 'Social Dog' test to assess sociability.
- Poodle grooming seminar and workshop.
- 'Golden Pawprint' beauty trophy with specimens from various countries.
As every year, the Canine Guides Section of National Police Corps of Malaga will hold an exhibition to showcase the I work with his dogs in security tasks.
Fair objectives
Vice President Miriam Villalta stated that the intention is to bring quality products and services for canine care closer to the public, and to promote the responsible ownership and to present the breeds from a functional perspective and as historical heritage.
