Dogs love to be caressed and massaged, because with this little gesture we not only help them relax, but also strengthen their confidence in us. They may have some preferences; for example, some dogs love to have their guts stroked while others prefer their breasts. In any case, most of them enjoy to the fullest with a good ear massage.
It is a very sensitive part of your anatomy. And is that the ear The dog is made up of thirteen different muscles, which explains its high capacity for movement and agility. For this reason we must perform the massage with great care, since the last thing we want is to cause pain to the animal. We teach you how to do it step by step.
The right time and place
It is important to perform the massage in a comfortable situation for both the dog and us. We can take advantage of when you are lying down and relaxed in a comfortable place, such as your bed or the sofa. It is also recommended that there is no noise around or a lot of movement.
Slight pressure on the base
We start by applying light pressure with the fingertips at the base of the ears, just in the area where the ears meet the head. Always very delicately, we make circular movements until the dog begins to relax.
We move towards the tips
We move the thumb and index finger over the rest of the ears, up to the tips, exerting slight pressure. We gently "rub" with both fingers, making sure the dog finds it comforting. We repeat this movement over and over again, slowly moving the ears in different directions. If we notice that the animal does not like it, it will be better not to insist.
Continue through other areas
We can continue on the head, neck, chest and belly, to return later to the ears if our pet wishes. Always gently, accompanying our caresses with words of affection and, if we want, relaxing music.
