The town of O PorriƱo is preparing to host a very special initiative dedicated to the protection of sentient beings. It is a day designed to to raise awareness of the problem of abandonment and to promote dignified treatment of all species, bringing together diverse groups in the same common space.
Under the concept "Our encounter with animals", this meeting seeks to encourage citizens to reflect on the importance of responsible pet ownershipThe event, jointly organized by Gatitude and the local council, aims to be a voice against animal cruelty and a direct supporter of those who rescue animals at risk.
A solidarity and educational alliance
The appointment will have the presence of 15 animal shelters and animal rights organizations These organizations, which operate both regionally and nationwide, will take the opportunity to inform attendees about their daily work and raise funds through information booths and fundraising activities.
To delve deeper into the issue, a round table on abuse and the lack of homes for pets. This debate will include a wide range of participants, from public administration officials to pet adopters and shelter representatives, thus offering a comprehensive view of the current situation in Spain.
Creativity and shelters for cats
One of the most striking aspects of the festival will be its artistic component. Several creators, including Eva Casais, Emma SuĆ”rez, Anxo Facal, Xabela GarcĆa Rionegro, Sheila Viqueira, Miriam BenĆtez, El Taller de la Musa, and Bruno VĆ”zquez (accompanied by students from the Ponteareas School of Art), will be in charge of decorate six adapted containers.
These structures will not only be ornamental pieces, but will serve as functional shelters for feline colonies that live in the municipality. In this way, art is put at the service of the survival of stray cats, transforming everyday objects into safe and aesthetic spaces.
Leisure, music and support for local businesses
Plaza Arquitecto Antonio Palacios will be filled with rhythm thanks to a diverse musical lineup. The atmosphere will be enlivened by sets from DJ Dorman and DJ Mario, in addition to... live concerts by bands such as Holy Honey Live set, Grupo 4 Notas, Grupo Silenzio and Fuchi's Band, ensuring that the social message reaches through entertainment.
For those who wish to collaborate, there will be several options available throughout the day:
- An raffle with prizes provided by the shops and bars in the area.
- The presence of a caricaturist showing solidarity who will donate his work.
- An area of food and drinks intended to raise funds for animal shelters.
The event will take place during extended hours, from 11:00 AM to 21:00 PM, maintaining a free and open access for all families, regardless of whether they have a pet or not. According to Mayor Alejandro Lorenzo, the combination of culture and awareness will be the central focus of the event.
This initiative in O PorriƱo manages to integrate artistic expression and music to combat animal abuse, bringing together numerous animal shelters and the city council in a free event that seeks to transform the reality of abandoned animals through citizen involvement.
